Aegen, Infinite Horizons

Also known as the Hydramancer, Aegen is a powerful planeswalker who specializes in generating infinite mana and power, creating hydras of incomprehensible size.

Aegen is a character I created for Magic the Gathering and is a recurring antagonist in my Dungeons & Dragons campaign Silnhaven.

Her card focuses on one of my favorite creatures and deck archetypes: Hydras and X spells. She can easily conjure hydras to her side, infuse spells with more mana, or recall a spell to the forefront of her mind. The color identity perfectly captures her mentality and proficiencies.

I created her portrait using pictures and raster drawings, such as the snake headed hydras sprouting from her back, the defining scar on her face, as well as her scaled robes and sabre. In the experimentation of this project I was able to further add atmosphere with the coiling arcane aura and eerie landscape.
